Random Rantings
Thursday, May 30, 2002
So I was scouring the web for fun stuff, and ran across Technomancy. FUN! All kinds of yaoi mono and manga niftiness. I'm doing some Ruro ni Kenshin artwork for them. >snicker< Since I've never SEEN Kenshin, this should be fun.
Donuts.
Yaoi.
Life is good.
Yeah, and not to steal, but those chix at Technomancy have a great definition of yaoi. It is not, as they say, the acronym for "Yamete, oshiri itai!" ("Stop it, my ass hurts!")
I laughed about that one till my belly hurt, for sure.

Mm. Back from vacation. What a lovely thing vacations are. I didn't even DO anything, really--a small roadtrip is all. Spent evenings at the bar and drew, slept days. Got my CAR, booyah, which is named Joe Bananas, or Fajirojikku when I'm in a particularly happy mood. It leaks brake fluid, but hey, brake fluid is cheap. I can't complain.
I invited myself to a friends' house for Shabbat--I'm making a huge and fairly traditional Japanese dinner. So far, the menu, if you care, is as follows:
Aka miso soup with tofu and green onion.
Plain rice, of course.
Then the fun stuff. Teriyaki chicken with sesame.
Nuka pickles.
Vegetable tempura.
Vinegared vegetable salad--sunomono.
Maguro if I can get it, and definitely shake (Salmon) nigirizushi.
Ending with sliced mango, and of course
sake and ocha throughout.
I was going to do nimono, boiled vegetables, but with tempura and sunomono AND pickles, I figured maybe that's enough fucking veggies already. I'll have to find something interesting for chopstick rests, now, and get some chopsticks. I have a nice lacquered set, but something tells me that ROTC people don't use hashi very often so I ought to bring some.
I haven't really cooked since I moved into this apartment with no kitchen or bathroom. I mean, I cook as far as heating things up and sometimes I make thai noodles with chicken or something, but that's not *cooking*. Cooking is feasts and six courses. So I'm excited; I like to cook.
